Dornan to host SNL UK

Saturday Night Live is finally coming to the United Kingdom, and the iconic American sketch comedy series has assembled an impressive lineup of hosts for its maiden British voyage. The six-part SNL UK series represents a landmark moment for British television, bringing Lorne Michaels’ legendary format to British audiences for the very first time since the show’s inception in the United States back in 1975. Broadcasting live from London every Saturday at 22:00 on Sky, the new series promises to deliver the same irreverent humor and topical satire that has made the American version a cultural institution for nearly five decades.
The first three episodes have already secured an exciting array of talent to guide viewers through this exciting new chapter. FIFTY SHADES OF GREY and THE TOURIST star Jamie Dornan will host the programme’s second episode, bringing his charm and comedic sensibilities to the live stage alongside the Brit-award winning band Wolf Alice. Following in the opening week, the beloved indie band Wet Leg will join the first host for what promises to be a strong start to the series. Four Lions actor Riz Ahmed takes on hosting duties for the third episode, with rock legends Kasabian performing as the musical guest.
Each 75-minute episode will follow the established SNL formula that audiences know and love, beginning with an opening monologue before diving into topical sketches, live musical performances, and the show’s signature “Weekend Update” segment—a sharp satire of the week’s most pressing news stories. This blend of sketch comedy, musical entertainment, and comedic commentary on current events has proven to be a winning formula across the Atlantic, and now British viewers will get to experience it firsthand with local talent and perspectives shaping the comedy.
