Irish box office takings plummeted from €120m in 2019 to €29m last year, with TENET being the only film released after March that made it into the top 10. Sam Mendes’s First World War epic 1917 was the highest grossing film of the year, making €2.9m at the box office. It was released in early January, well before the first lockdown.
