Caitriona Balfe is having a hard time saying goodbye to OUTLANDER. In a conversation with RTÉ Entertainment the BELFAST actor said, “It’s going to be very sad, very bittersweet. It’s had an amazing run and it will be more than a decade by the time it’s finished, which is an incredible length of time to spend as a character on a show and I will be bereft of spending that time with Claire.”

Irish director Laura McGann’s latest film, THE DEEPEST BREATH, airs July 19 on Netflix. THE DEEPEST BREATH follows champion freediver Alessia Zecchini, who fell in love with the sport as a child growing up in Italy, astounding coaches with her raw talent and determination in pool swims and open water contests before she was even old enough to legally compete. The Deepest Breath will be released worldwide on Netflix on July 19, with limited theatrical release in Ireland from July 14.

Derek Thompson to exit CASUALTY

CASUALTY’s longest-serving cast member Derek Thompson will leave the soap after almost four decades playing Charlie Fairhead, the BBC has announced. The 75-year-old said “the time has come for me to hang up Charlie’s scrubs after the most wonderful 37 years” starring in nearly 900 episodes of the much-loved TV programme. The BBC said Thompson will be filming until autumn, with his final scenes airing next year in the “culmination of a gripping exit storyline which will see the character front and centre of the action”.
