Hard-hitting Irish crime drama KIN, described as “the best Irish drama series in years”, will begin streaming on Netflix from May 1. The show, which won four Irish Film and Television Awards in 2022, initially aired on Irish channel RTÉ in 2021, for series one, and in 2023, for series two. KIN stars a plethora of Irish acting talent including Ciaran Hinds (BELFAST), Clare Dunne, Emmett J. Scanlan (FOOL ME ONCE) and Charlie Cox.

RTÉ’s hit crime drama KIN has begun airing on the BBC following the show’s huge success in Ireland. Written and created by Peter McKenna and co-created by Ciarán Donnelly, Kin follows a war between a small crime family and a huge international cartel, which is sparked by the murder of a young boy, and stars Ciarán Hinds, Aiden Gillen, and Charlie Cox. The series has clocked up more than four million lifetime streams in Ireland, with the second season averaging a 40 per cent audience share in its Sunday-night slot, and its finale becoming the most-viewed programme of the year, outside of sport.

Irish crime drama KIN to BBC

KIN

Irish crime drama KIN is set to air on BBC One in Britain after the star-studded series wowed viewers in Ireland. The show, which stars GAME OF THRONES actors Ciarán Hinds and Aidan Gillen, won rave reviews after debuting on RTÉ One in September 2021. It would go on to scoop six gongs at the 2022 Irish Film & Television Academy Awards, including Best Drama and Best Drama Script for creator Peter McKenna.

Dunne on Kin Season 2

The television series KIN is one of the most internationally acclaimed Irish shows in recent memory (alongside the hilarious comedy DERRY GIRLS), in no small part because of its incredible onscreen talent. The most surprising star of Kin, though, is Clare Dunne. Dunne plays Amanda Kinsella, who begins the show as a put-upon and caring mother struggling to raise her children Jamie and Anthony safely while her husband’s family runs a crime empire in Ireland and stumbles into a gang war.

Great news for fans of RTÉ’s KIN, as the crime series has been officially renewed for another season. The drama follows the criminal enterprises of the Kinsella family, and it attracted a huge viewership when it aired on Irish screens last year. As well as gripping storylines, the series was packed full of Irish talent, including Aidan Gillen, Clare Dunne, Ciarán Hinds and Charlie Cox.
