A new film about Ireland’s direct provision system starring Black Panther’s Letitia Wright is set for release this week. Filmmaker Frank Berry got the idea for AISHA while making an entirely different project back in 2017. The Dubliner was researching Michael Inside, a film about Irish prison life, when he discovered that the Department of Justice also ran Ireland’s immigration system. Five years on, AISHA will be released in cinemas and on Sky Cinema on Thursday, 17 November.
