Apple TV+ has announced a series order for SUGAR, a new genre-bending series hailing from creator and executive producer Mark Protosevich with Colin Farrell attached to executive produce and star in the lead role. SUGAR becomes Farrell’s latest TV role following HBO anthology TRUE DETECTIVE. Exact plot details for the show remain under wraps, aside from the fact that it is described as a genre-bending contemporary take on the private detective story set in Los Angeles.

Castleknock’s own, Colin Farrell, who is starring in THE BATMAN, will portray the DC Comics villain The Penguin in a limited spin-off series for the US streaming service HBO Max. As well as starring in the TV series, Farrell will also serve as an executive producer, alongside Matt Reeves. The Penguin is one of the most famous villains from the Batman comics and the character is known for his top hat, monocle, and multiple lethal umbrellas.
