THE DRY renewed for final season

ITV has announced a third and final series of the BAFTA-nominated comedy-drama THE DRY. The series stars Belfast actress Roisin Gallagher as Shiv, a recovering alcoholic who returned to Dublin after spending a decade in London.

The show’s previous seasons featured an accomplished cast including GAME OF THRONES veterans Ciarán Hinds and Michael McElhatton, alongside Siobhán Cullen (THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM), Moe Dunford (VIKINGS), and Sam Keeley (IN THE HEART OF THE SEA).

In the upcoming final series, the Sheridan family will confront their greatest challenge yet when a significant family secret comes to light. As they grapple with inevitable change and the betrayals of the past, destructive patterns begin to surface. Shiv, who has typically blamed others for her problems – her family, her ex, and alcohol – must finally confront a difficult question: could she be the real source of her own troubles?

The series will conclude with a family gathering where these tensions come to a head, forcing Shiv to face some uncomfortable truths about herself.

Trailblazing Irish women are having a moment in TV drama. Hot on the heels of Sharon Horgan’s BAD SISTERS, Sally Rooney’s NORMAL PEOPLE, Aisling Bea’s THIS WAY UP and Lisa McGee’s DERRY GIRLS came 2022’s THE DRY. Critics called it “the Irish Fleabag”, and the series picked up eight nominations at the IFTAs and launched the career of its star Roisin Gallagher. Gallagher has appeared alongside Hollywood megastars, and found herself up against the likes of Sharon Horgan at awards shows. It’s all thanks to the brilliance of her Dublin-set dark comedy, THE DRY, which is leading an Irish television revolution.
