Derry Girl Louisa Harland will star in an upcoming Disney+ series, THE BALLAD OF RENEGADE NELL. Harland’s character “ends up on an extraordinary adventure after she is framed for murder – a twist of fate that has far bigger consequences than Nell could ever dream of,” the outlet states. The series follows Nell, an 18th century young woman, as she finds herself “unwittingly becoming the most famous highwaywoman in the country.”

McCormack grew up in Nenagh, in County Tipperary, the son of a white Irish mother and a Black American father he rarely saw. But his paternal grandfather, Percy Thomas, who runs a theater company in Maryland, helped fill that void.

ITV have released a first look trailer for new thriller THE SUSPECT starring POLDARK’S Aidan Turner. THE SUSPECT will star Aidan Turner alongside Shaun Parkes, Anjli Mohindra, Camilla Beeput, Adam James and Sian Clifford. In the trailer, a bearded Turner can be seen trying to unravel the mysterious death of a young woman who is found in a shallow grave in a West London cemetery and, in one dramatic scene, the Poldark actor is seen on the window ledge of a hospital next to a young man trying to save his life.

Five sisters, a dead brother-in-law, and a possible murder are at the centre of Apple TV+’s BAD SISTERS, an upcoming thriller that feels like Big Little Lies plus a lot of dark comedy. Based on Malin-Sarah Gozin’s Belgian series Clan, Bad Sisters follows the five Garvey sisters, played by Sharon Horgan, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene, and Eve Hewson, who one day conspire to put an end to their abusive brother-in-law with predictably chaotic results. BAD SISTERS is streaming on Apple TV+ from Aug. 19.

PEAKY BLINDERS film in the works

The creator of BBC drama PEAKY BLINDERS, Steven Knight, has confirmed there will be a spin-off film featuring familiar faces and new cast members. The Bafta-nominated show, starring Cillian Murphy, ran for six series from 2013 to 2022. “I can tell you that there’s going to be a film, a feature film,” he told Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Zoe Hardman. When asked if the film was definitely confirmed, Birmingham-born Knight replied: “Yep, by me, right now.”
