Bond girl Doody up for award

Irish Bond girl Alison Doody’s latest film is up for Best Picture at the Hollywood Critics Association’s Midseason Awards, it was announced this week. The 56-year-old south Dublin native has a key role in action drama RRR – a global hit that is the most expensive Indian movie ever made and the first Indian movie ever to be nominated for an HCA award. Doody plays the role of Catherine, the cruel wife of tyrannical British governor Scott Buxton – the film’s bad guy in chief.

Aidan Turner as Bond?

Dublin actor Aidan Turner has seen his odds slashed to 7-1 in the race to play the next James Bond. The Clondalkin man is now fifth favourite behind Rege-Jean Page, Henry Cavill and Michael Fassbender, sitting at 7-1 alongside Idris Elba. He has even overtaken previous favourite Tom Hardy this week. The new ranking also puts Turner ahead of previous front-runners Lashana Lynch (10-1) and Jamie Dornan (12-1).
