More than two decades on, Ridley Scott’s seminal, best picture-winning action epic GLADIATOR is getting a sequel—and, by all accounts, it’s going to be a corker. Starring a hulking Paul Mescal, now a world away from NORMAL PEOPLE’S sensitive Connell Waldron, as Lucius, the son of Connie Nielsen’s Lucilla and the nephew of Joaquin Phoenix’s Commodus, it’ll see our magnetic lead step into the arena and fight to the death.
THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN legend will be back on the big screen in JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX on Oct 4. The sequel will be focusing on the love story between Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, or Arthur Fleck, and now Lady Gaga’s portrayal of the iconic character, Harley Quinn. The film premiered at the 81st Venice Film Festival on September 4, receiving a 12 minutes standing ovation.
BRING THEM DOWN initially tells its story through the perspective of Michael. Weighed down by internal conflicts, he traverses the Irish countryside almost invisibly. His brooding aggression and minimal dialogue hook you into his world. Michael’s silent fury is far more fascinating and impactful than the noise of his neighboring threats. He has a muted but threatening approach to how events escalate, and his pursuit for revenge lays the foundation for a revelatory second act.

While he wants to help the women there, he is also conflicted about revealing the secret as the Church and the convent are important institutions in the small Irish town.
In a new Guardian piece, BLITZ, the upcoming movie from Oscar-winning British film director, Sir Steve McQueen, is profiled. The film, starring Saoirse Ronan (THE OUTRUN), examines terrors that London underwent during the second world war. McQueen said, “BLITZ is a movie about Londoners. It honours the spirit of what and how Londoners endured during the blitz, but also explores the true representation of people in London. At its core is the story of a working-class family desperate to be reunited.”
