Brendan Gleeson’s Skater Alter Ego

Irish actor Brandan Gleeson shares a hilarious video in advance of his SNL hosting debut. THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN actor followed the proclamation up with a demonstration of his skills. The promo video goes on to show Gleeson carelessly riding around the SNL set on a skateboard while landing kickflips and toppling over a staff member’s cue cards. It was a display worthy of Thrasher Magazine, or it would be if Gleeson didn’t trash the skate magazine soon after.

Huberman to receive Maureen O’Hara Award

Actress Amy Huberman is set to be awarded the prestigious Maureen O’Hara award at the Kerry International Film Festival. This year’s festival will take place from October 20-23 across a series of venues throughout Killarney, Co. Kerry. In 2008, KIFF established the Maureen O’Hara Award in celebration of women who have excelled in film, TV and/or media. This year, the award will go to Huberman.

Gleeson to host SNL

Award-winning Irish actor Brendan Gleeson is to host the iconic US TV comedy show SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE next month. The 67-year-old Dublin-born star, who is an Emmy award winner, will make his SNL debut on October 8. The show, which will be the second of its 48th season, will see Gleeson joined by Willow, daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who will make her debut as musical guest.

DERRY GIRLS returns to Netflix on October 7. Netflix’s official Twitter posted a tweet stating it was hard to say goodbye to the show, saying the “final season of our beloved Derry Girls arrives October 7 on Netflix (outside The UK & Ireland).” Last fall, creator and writer Lisa McGee confirmed on Twitter the third season would be the last, and that it was always the plan to have the show end after three seasons. “Derry Girls is a coming of age story…a love letter to the place I come from and the people who shaped me,” McGee said, also commenting it was an honor to write the show, and she was proud of what it had accomplished and achieved.
