The second season of the popular crime drama series is on the way later this month on RTÉ One. The returning cast for season two includes Charlie Cox as Michael, as Amanda, Aidan Gillen as Frank, Sam Keeley as Viking, Emmett J. Scanlan as Jimmy, Maria Doyle Kennedy as Birdy, and Yasmin Seky as Nikita. Ciarán Hinds as rival gang leader Eamon Cunningham will naturally not be back, for reasons that will be clear to those who’ve watched the debut season.

It’s safe to say that actor James Martin is looking forward to his upcoming trip to Hollywood. The star of AN IRISH GOODBYE, the short film that has already won a Bafta and is now gunning for an Oscar, has an extra reason to celebrate. Sunday’s ceremony falls on his birthday. Martin, who has also starred in BBC One film UPs and DOWNs and ITV’s MARCELLA, plays Lorcan in Ross White and Tom Berkeley’s film about two estranged brothers thrown together again after their mother’s untimely death.

THE QUIET GIRL now in NA theatres

At this year’s Academy Awards, THE QUIET GIRL stands on the verge of making history, potentially becoming the first ever Irish language film to bag an Oscar. Based on Booker-prize nominated author Claire Keegan’s novella FOSTER, the Irish adaption explores how Cait is sent from her family in rural Ireland to stay with relations in Ring, County Waterford, an Irish-speaking area, in 1981.

Dornan returns in TOURIST S2

Jamie Dornan and Danielle Macdonald are heading to Ireland for the second season of the thriller series THE TOURIST. The first season, which aired on the BBC in January 2022, became the most-watched drama of the year in the U.K. and won three Golden Nymphs awards at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival. The new six-part thriller, commissioned by the BBC in association with Stan and ZDF, was created and written by Jack and Harry Williams and produced by award-winning Two Brothers Pictures (BAPTISTE, THE MISSING, FLEABAG) in association with All3Media International. Shooting is set to start this spring.

BRIDGERTON and DERRY GIRLS star Nicola Coughlan has landed a major role in a new Channel 4 comedy.The Galway native is set to star as MAGGIE IN BIG MOOD (working title) alongside IT’S A SIN‘sLydia West, who will play her best friend Eddie. The six-part series is described as “vivacious and rebellious portrayal of female friendship when infiltrated by the complexities of a serious mental illness.” Announcing the news on her Instagram account, Nicola admitted that it’s been a “dream” of hers to work with show creator and longtime pal Camilla Whitehill.

Norton to host Eurovision 2023

Beloved Cork TV personality and author Graham Norton will host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, it has been confirmed. The BBC announced the full presenting team on Wednesday, with Norton set to be joined on stage by singer Alesha Dixon, Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina. Comedian and former Great British Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc will also be on hand to assist, with commentary provided by Scott Mills and Rylan.
