Academy Award nominee (BANSHEES OF INISHERIN, SALTBURN) Barry Keoghan returns as The Joker in THE BATMAN 2. Keoghan has previously revealed that he has everything mapped out and ready to go for when he receives the call to return as The Joker in the much-anticipated sequel. Speaking with The New York Times, Keoghan revealed that he has already conceived of a backstory for his version of the Clown Prince of Crime, which he hopes will be something “fresh and unique” for audiences.

Netflix’s IRISH WISH trailer is set amid the rolling green seaside hills of Ireland and places Lindsay Lohan in the tale of Maddie, a young lovelorn woman who travels to Europe for her best friend’s wedding. Filmed on location in Wicklow, the film promises plenty of scenic vistas to serve as the backdrop for Lohan’s latest rom-com. The movie marks Lohan’s second Netflix original following her 2022 holiday movie FALLING FOR CHRISTMAS and is set to stream on March 15.

ONE NIGHT IN MILLSTREET

ONE NIGHT IN MILLSTREET is the story of Ireland in 1995, a snapshot of a country told through a high stakes prize fight in Millstreet, Cork between the then unknown underdog Steve ‘The Celtic Warrior’ Collins and the larger-than-life champion Chris ‘Simply The Best’ Eubank – an against-all-odds sporting event that had an entire nation gripped and on the edge of its seat. Wildcard Distribution have released the official trailer for the award-winning documentary which will be released in Irish cinemas on April 5.

Ireland shines at BAFTA 2024

Ireland shines at BAFTA 2024 with multiple wins across several categories, securing recognition for Irish creative talent at the UK’s biggest awards show. Cork actor Cillian Murphy received the best actor award for OPPENHEIMER, having faced competition in the category from Dublin actor Barry Keoghan for his role as Oliver Quick in SALTBURN. Yorgos Lanthimos’s offbeat film POOR THINGS is produced by Dublin-based Element Pictures. Its nominations included a cinematography nod for Irish cinematographer Robbie Ryan, though OPPENHEIMER won in that category.

SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE at Berlinale

During the Berlin Film Festival press conference for his newest movie SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE, Cillian Murphy reflected on the “collective trauma” of Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries. Based on the book of the same name by Claire Keegan, the film focuses on the horrific asylums run by Roman Catholic institutions from the 1820s until 1996, ostensibly to reform ‘fallen young women. The story is told through the eyes of Murphy’s devoted father and coal merchant Bill Furlong, who during Christmas 1985 discovers some “startling secrets” kept by his local convent.
