The Cork actress was speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Women’s Hour today ahead of the final episode of the Channel 4 show this week. “Playing somebody who is so herself and has no filter and is so confident in herself and in her way in the world is a deeply sensual experience,” she said.
DERRY GIRLS star Peter Campion is all loved up away from the hit Channel 4 show. The actor, who plays the role of the “sexy priest” is married to RED ROCK actress Valerie O’Connor, who played Nikki Grogan, and together they have two kids. Channel 4 has announced an additional, extended length episode of DERRY GIRLS. The special will broadcast later in the same week as the Series 3 finale, scheduled to air on 17th May at 9pm. Titled The Agreement, it picks up a year on from the end of Series 3 proper and focuses around the Good Friday Agreement referendum, which brought widespread peace and stability to Northern Ireland after decades of bloodshed.

Liam Neeson has made a surprise cameo in a new episode of DERRY GIRLS. The beloved sitcom returned for the final season this week, with eagle-eyed fans spotting the TAKEN actor feature as a police inspector questioning the main characters about a school burglary. DERRY GIRLS creator Lisa McGee confirmed Neeson’s role after the episode, tweeting that his code name while filming was “the big fella” and adding that it was “quite an easily cracked code”.
The Irish teens are back for one last adventure! The beloved Northern Irish comedy returns for one last season tonight on Channel 4. Season three picks up on the eve of GCSE results day. There’s talk of a film next, but McGee says that’s not been officially confirmed: “I think I have an idea for one. I need to take a break first.” It might also be tricky to get the cast back in the same room again. Coughlan in particular seems ready to move on, and tells us she’s “definitely played Clare for the last time.”
DERRY GIRLS may be coming to a conclusion, but writer Lisa McGee says she refuses to rule out a return to the comedy in the form of a film at some point in the future. McGee said her immediate thoughts about the show was that it had come to an end and the characters had been taken to “where we wanted to take them”.
Channel 4 has confirmed that DERRY GIRLS season 3 will return April 12th, reuniting us with the whole gang for the third and final time. Erin, Clare, Orla, Michelle and the ‘wee English fella’ James will all return in the 1990s-set Northern Irish comedy, following a DERRY GIRLS season 3 trailer showing the girls and James all enjoying their final school days.
